Fit Testing and Respiratory Protection
Duration: **dependant on number of participants – group respiratory awareness training will typically last 30 minutes with an 20 minutes of individual instruction and fit testing per participant.
Respirators are designed to provide respiratory protection from airborne hazards you may be exposed to in the workplace. When used correctly, these devices reduce or minimize harmful exposure, or contact to chemical or biological hazards.
If respirators are used in the workplace, the employer is responsible for implementing a written respiratory protection program, provide fit testing, and ensure workers understand how to use and care for equipment.
This course is designed to provide an overview of respiratory hazards and the selecting appropriate personal protective equipment. Participants will actively participate in understanding the roles and responsibilities involved with an effective respiratory protection program across all industries including;
- Warehousing and Distribution
- Property Management
- Trade and Transportation

In this course, we will cover the proper selection, use and care of a respirator for specific applications. Just like any other piece of equipment you may use in your job, it is important to maintain and store your respiratory equipment properly to ensure effectiveness when in use.
Each participant will be instructed on and must demonstrate a positive/negative fit test and will undergo qualitative testing.
